Here at Garners, we specialise in 18th, 19th and 20th century portraits and paintings. Our unique selection of antique oil paintings that are on offer are high quality pieces of fine art for every serious collector, trader or if you just appreciate fine art.
Our collection of antique paintings for sale is an elegant and decorative addition to any home or gallery. These paintings are beautiful examples of their era and offer enthusiasts and traders a piece of history.
We only have a small selection of paintings available to view on our website but we have a number of other pieces which are not shown. This is because we understand the importance of keeping certain pieces of art away from the Internet to protect their value. We have over 50 years of experience within the Fine Art trade, so we have access to private collections and many other artworks that we simply are unable to photograph and publish on our website.
If you are struggling to find a particular antique painting for sale, or work by a certain artist, then contact us and we can discuss any requirements or queries you may have.
Geoffrey Chatten
Geoffrey Chatten was born in Gorleston-on-Sea, Norfolk in 1938. A keen interest in nature led to his first job with the Forestry Commission. In 1960 he was encouraged to start painting and has been a professional painter ever since.
Painting landscapes, seascapes and coastal scenes in oil, over the past 30 years Chatten has developed and mastered a technique of painting which is completely his own. The intimate quality of his work displays a freedom of personal expression and exploration and his paintings show a great ability to capture the feeling and atmosphere of his subject.
Still living and working in Norfolk, Chatten exhibits regularly in East Anglia, nationally and internationally. Chatten is an associate member of The Royal Society of British Artists. Exhibited at: The Royal Academy, The Royal Society of British Artists, The Maritime Trust, The Royal Institute of Oil Painters.
